Gilberto Gil (1968)

Gilberto Gil's 1968 self-titled album, sometimes known by the opening track 'Frevo Rasgado', sets his Northeastern roots against psychedelic arrangement and Rogério Duprat's orchestrations. It carries 'Domingo no Parque', the festival song that helped launch Tropicália a year earlier. The album shows the movement's most rhythmically inventive composer at full stretch.
