Superfuzz Bigmuff (EP)
Mudhoney's debut EP, released on Sub Pop in 1988 and named for two guitar effects pedals that defined its filthy tone. The record's distorted heaviness became a touchstone for the emerging Seattle scene. Together with the band's early singles, it helped establish the label's signature sound before Nirvana or Pearl Jam had broken through.

Connections1
influences → Nevermind (Nirvana)
Mudhoney's 1988 EP helped codify the distorted, abrasive template that Nirvana would later carry to a mass audience with "Nevermind." The earlier record marked out the scene's aesthetic; the later one sold it to the world. The line from one Sub Pop release to the breakthrough album traces grunge's path from underground to mainstream.
