La balsa (single)
Released as a single in July 1967, 'La balsa' by Los Gatos was the breakthrough that turned Spanish-language rock into a commercial force in Argentina. Co-written by Litto Nebbia and Tanguito, it sold spectacularly and is conventionally treated as the founding record of rock nacional. Its success showed that a generation would buy rock made at home and sung in their own tongue.
