Sunshower (Taeko Onuki)

Issued on 25 July 1977, Taeko Onuki's "Sunshower" paired her cool, art-pop sensibility with jazz-leaning arrangements by Ryuichi Sakamoto and a cast of top Tokyo session players. Overlooked on release, it later became one of the most sought-after and reissued records of the genre. It marks the more sophisticated, harmonically ambitious wing of city pop.
