Larry Heard (Mr. Fingers)

Larry Heard, born in Chicago in 1960 and recording as Mr. Fingers, was the producer who lent house its deepest, most introspective dimension. A former drummer, he favored warm chords and lush synthesizer pads over the harder club fare, prefiguring what would later be called deep house. He also recorded with the vocal group Fingers Inc.
