WestBam

A German DJ and producer who took his name from Afrika Bambaataa, WestBam was central to Berlin's club explosion and one of the figures behind the Low Spirit label. He was an early architect of the Love Parade's anthems and a tireless ambassador for the city's sound. His records pushed a brash, populist techno that filled the parade's trucks and the era's clubs.

  • collaborates with Love Parade 1993

WestBam was among the producers whose brash, populist tracks supplied the Love Parade with its anthems as the event grew through the early 1990s. His records filled the parade's trucks and the city's largest dancefloors. He became, with Dr. Motte, one of the parade's defining musical voices.

  • influenced by Phuture

Chicago's acid and house records were established on German dancefloors by the late 1980s, feeding the Berlin scene alongside Detroit techno. The four-on-the-floor and 303 textures that Phuture pioneered were part of the imported sound the early Love Parade danced to.
