Mark Ernestus

A German producer and record-shop owner, Mark Ernestus co-founded the Hard Wax store and, with Moritz von Oswald, the Basic Channel project. Hard Wax became the nervous system of Berlin techno, the place where Detroit imports and local pressings changed hands. Through Basic Channel and its Chain Reaction offshoot, Ernestus helped define the city's deep, dub-inflected sound.
